About

I am Janilton Gabriel de Souza, clinical psychologist, Lacanian psychoanalyst, writer, clinical supervisor, researcher, and college teacher. From an early age, I experienced Psychoanalysis from the inside — as a patient. This journey crosses me to this day, as someone who believes in the transformative power of capturing the subtext [listening] of the unconscious.
I have a degree in Psychology and a master’s degree from the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ), and I continue to pursue my studies, research, and clinical work. I work as a university professor and coordinate postgraduate courses in Psychoanalysis at Grupo Unis in partnership with the IIP, combining teaching, research, and clinical practice. I am a member of the International Institute of Psychoanalysis (IIP), where I also participate in Topolab — a laboratory dedicated to thinking about the intersections between topology and clinical practice.
I deeply believe that “Psychoanalysis transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.” This belief permeates my work both as a clinician and as a disseminator of psychoanalytic knowledge. My work style combines theory and practice. I use the tools of Lacanian psychoanalysis and work beyond it using topology — a more flexible clinical practice with an approach that values the uniqueness of each individual’s journey.
Together with psychoanalyst Mônica Godoy, I created the podcast Psicanálise Conectada (Connected Psychoanalysis), designed to demystify analysis and bring psychoanalytic knowledge closer to those who want to hear more about themselves. I also write articles, participate in events, and continue to build a space for speaking, listening, and continuous reflection.
I see patients in person in Varginha, Minas Gerais, and online throughout Brazil, as well as Brazilians overseas. My office in Varginha, Minas Gerais, was created with care and affection. It is an accessible, inclusive, and comfortable place, designed to welcome diverse stories with the dignity that each one deserves.
Experience in different contexts [Court of Justice of Minas Gerais – Teaching Clinic – as supervisor, educational institutions, and companies] and clinical settings, from traditional listening to therapeutic follow-up.
Works that traverse theory and clinical practice, mobilizing knowledge to expand the horizons of Psychoanalysis.
Office in Varginha-MG, designed to welcome you with care, and online, for those who are anywhere in the world.
